Know The Top Ways On How To Stop Panic Attacks

By Yap Kc

How to stop panic attacks is something that every one must know even if there is no personal danger of suffering from them. A panic attack is a short period of time during which the victim feels uncontrollable fear and anxiety that results in a loss of self-control and erratic behavior with symptoms that, to the victim, are life threatening in their nature. How to stop panic attacks means knowing what the various symptoms mean and imply and how to conquer them. For example a person suffering from panic attack may feel any combination of the following symptoms like palpitation, trembling, nausea, sweating, dizziness, chills, choking, and so on.

A panic attack may last from just a few minutes to as much as half an hour. The longer the panic attack the greater the trauma suffered by the victim. The sensations during an attack are extremely unpleasant and they are all layered with the fear of death and impending doom. This might not sound rational but you must know that rational thinking is one of the first things to go during a panic attack. There is a sense of unreality about the whole universe and the lack of sense is not easy to understand for someone who has never had to ponder on how to stop panic attacks through sheer good fortune of never having suffered one.

To further complicate matters, there is often nothing to indicate the trigger of a panic attack. The first few steps in how to stop panic attacks focus on finding these triggers and then figuring out what about them is starting the attacks. There are many common reasons for panic attacks. For example people who are afraid of making public speeches will start having the attacks weeks before they are actually supposed to speak. What this implies is that the whole approach for how to stop panic attacks has nothing to do with public speaking but the fear of the fear of public speaking. The victim is, in other words, self-inducing a panic attack by focusing on what will happen during the speech.

In order to know how to stop panic attacks you must be able to pay attention to the details of your body’s reactions to one. This will help you to precisely know the nature of the cause behind the attacks. Though this sound easy it is not for some people and they must seek medical attention. The only thing worse than having panic attacks is enduring them without trying to cure them. This continued exposure to uncontrollable fear would ultimately lead the patient to develop a chronic condition with the fear being triggered by more and more circumstances until their whole life is reduced to a shell of older times and they will become increasingly withdrawn and distant from the world around them.

There are many options available for help on how to stop panic attacks. Mild cases may be treated with simple counseling while other cases might require a combination of therapy with prescription drugs to help cope with the negativity involved with panic attacks.

Top 2 Ways To Overcome Panic Attacks Now

By Yap Kc

According to an estimate, more than 5% of the American population is suffering from some type of anxiety disorder. An anxiety disorder is nothing but an advanced development in people who initially suffered from panic attacks. Overcoming panic attacks means first recognizing the onset of these attacks. Once you know that you are about to have panic attacks, or you find yourself in situations, which, through experience, you know are going to lead there, you are better prepared to deal with them. The trick is to assess a coming panic attack a lot sooner than when you already know that any second you are going to be out of breath, scared out of your wits, and generally helpless for a few moments.

Overcoming panic attacks is quite easy though it may be a confusing initially. The key is to distract your mind by focusing it on other things when you feel a panic attack coming on. Do not rely on spontaneity, as it is useless in overcoming panic attacks. Prepare in advance, so you are ready when the time comes and to this end, make a list of the possible things that work for you to distract yourself. What you need is positive reinforcement, so include a lot of positive messages and involve items that usually calm you down when your excitement gets out of control.

Remember that overcoming panic attacks is all about controlling your fear because the primary emotion associated with panic attacks is fear. The other symptoms like breathlessness and tunnel vision are all physical in nature. The more you prepare yourself to face panic attacks the easier they will be to overcome and eventually avoid.

The first noticeable symptom of panic attacks is shortness of breath or choking. For overcoming panic attacks, practice breathing exercise that will help you to retain control of normal breathing when you have your next attack. This will result in a huge improvement of all the other symptoms that follow. Make sure that you have a plan in place so that you do not fail to follow up on your breathing exercises in moments of panic. Having a plan for each symptom will help you to focus on what is happening to you and what you need to do with a view to overcoming panic attacks. If you know and can convince yourself that you are not having an uncontrollable cardiac arrest then you are well on your way to overcoming panic attacks. Panic attacks increase your panic and fear, and any trouble with your breathing will lead you to the worst conclusions when you are not in control.

Apart from breathing, the important thing about overcoming panic attacks is to know how to relax. Like breathing exercises, there are exercises that can help you practice how to relax yourself in moments of panic. In case you have difficulties in learning either type of exercise then just contact a professional.

Write down the list of distractions that work for you and always keep a copy on your person. It is not enough to keep it in your head when clarity of thought is lost during panic attacks.

Anxiety Problems Or Anxiety Disorders? What

By Henry Marshall

If someone suffers from anxiety, does it really matter whether we call their condition an anxiety problem or an anxiety disorder? Can it really make a difference to how quickly someone could overcome their anxiety?

So what is the difference between anxiety problems and anxiety disorders is? If we look at the definitions and differences between the two, it appears quite a grey area from one expert to another but in general a disorder is a more serious condition. And of course that is our perception; in general we perceive that if someone has a disorder, there is actually something genetically wrong with them. Possibly even inside their head that makes them respond and act in a certain way. This therefore leads to some people believing it is almost impossible to overcome the disorder and that the only way to deal with it is by taking drugs.

We all suffer with anxiety at times, and that is not surprising when you look at the way we live our lives these days. Everything is so important in this modern world, we must get things right. From a very young age we learned just how important it is to get things right and live our lives in the right and proper way. From when we first start school the pressure starts. We learned that life is all about what we can achieve. We must be at least as good if not better than everybody else. As we go through school we are taught that unless we can achieve a high standard in our classes, look the same as our peers, and do the same things then we are less worthy.

This goes on to passing our exams and getting a high grade, to going to university and getting a degree. And then it becomes so important that we get a good job and have nice clothes, and a nice car, and a nice house. And the reason these things are so important is that unless we obtain them and achieve highly we will not be happy and will be unworthy. And is this true? The fact is that achieving all these things does not necessarily mean we will be happy. And simply the pressures on us can cause the stress which can make us anxious causing the anxiety problem.

We then live our life in generally a higher state of anxiety than we like until one day we find ourselves in a very uncomfortable situation and anxiety takes over. We may even feel sick, our hands might feel sweaty, and we might have trouble breathing and feel very uncomfortable. This can be the start of an anxiety problem; the thought of being in that sort of situation again, can make us feel anxious on its own. These anxiety problems have been caused by our environment and therefore if we change the environment or even how we perceive the environment than we can feel better and therefore may be able to reduced or even cure the problem.

The people that come to see me with anxiety problems normally start suffering from feeling anxious in a certain situation. They then very often go on to feelings anxious about feeling anxious, they might even start looking for other situations where they might feel anxious. This can grow to a stage where they feel anxious about everything all the time. This makes them feel abnormal and different from other people. If we then call the condition and anxiety disorder then they may well perceive that this is such a deep mental problem that it will probably be impossible for them to overcome it. However, should we call the condition an anxiety problem, then a problem can be overcome.

Today we have access to an enormous amount of information, here on the net we can find out everything about anything. And it is so easy for people to find the wrong information if they go away considering they have an anxiety disorder that is almost impossible for them to overcome, they may very well feel anxious about the fact they cannot do anything about the condition adding to their anxiety.

I have lots of people that come to see me with anxiety problems and the main thing that I can do, is to allow them to be able to feel positive that they can overcome their problem. I believe that if someone believes they have anxiety problem it is more likely that they will overcome that problem.

Best Drugs For Your Anxiety

By Krishan Bakhru

In the quest of curing your anxiety there may be times when you’ll be persuaded that you’ve found the best anxiety drug for you. There will be times when people – family and friends – who also perhaps suffer from anxiety like you do, will tout that they have found the best anxiety drug and they now live a carefree life. And there’ll be times when your doctor might tell you that what he’s just prescribed for you is the best anxiety drug there is on the market right now.

Whatever the case maybe, and however you came across it, you should always be wary when you’re presented with any new drug, especially when it comes bearing the tag “best anxiety drug”. It might be just the thing that you need in your fight against anxiety, but you should also be aware that it might also be completely wrong for you and also that it could make your condition worse.

Some drugs also have serious side effects that can affect you in the long term. Even herbal drugs like St. John’s Wort can have side effects like photosensitivity – sensitivity to light – which can affect you if taken over a long period of time.

Other drugs first touted as the best anxiety drug available, have now been known to induce withdrawal symptoms in many people. Since this knowledge was only fairly recent, this so-called “best anxiety drug” was one that was freely prescribed by doctors up until recently, when better anxiety drugs were found.

The thing to know and recognize though is that most drugs will have side effects and most of the time very little is known about the drugs themselves. While it’s true that these drugs have undergone rigorous testing before being passed on to you, you should still be aware that the latest wonder “ best anxiety drug” has not been tested on you. What this means is that in addition to the many various side effects that you might get from the drug that are already listed, you might also develop other symptoms.

This holds true for any medication and you do need to be careful. So don’t rush out and jump on the bandwagon of the next “best anxiety drug” to hit the market. Wait a little while, do some research into this new wonder drug and talk it over with your doctor first. There is no real substitute for caution and as long as you realize that there is no cure-all drug to treat your anxiety, you can’t go too wrong. This way you won’t be tricked into believing that you’ve found the best anxiety drug there is and you’ll be able to find one that is more suited to you not your next door neighbor!
